National pass rate, all boards
What the record shows
- The GPA system reached SSC in 2001, when just 76 students got GPA-5. HSC followed in 2003 with 20.
- SSC GPA-5 peaked at 269,602 in 2022. HSC peaked at 189,169 in 2021 (exam held under a short syllabus).
- HSC 2020 was not held. Results were assigned from JSC and SSC grades, so the pass rate was 100%.
- Since 2024 both exams have fallen sharply: SSC from 83.04% to 62.25%, HSC from 77.78% to 58.83%.
- In 1996 both exams collapsed: SSC fell from 73.20% to 42.61% and HSC to 24.77%, the lowest HSC pass rate on record.
- Before 2005, fewer than half of HSC candidates passed in most years. The 2002 HSC pass rate was 27.09%.

SSC pass rate by board, 2024 → 2026
Every board fell between 2024 and 2025. In 2026 Dhaka, Cumilla and Barishal recovered slightly; the rest fell again, Technical and Madrasah most of all.
Pass rate by board and year (institution totals)
Summed from Sohopathi's institution records, with each institution under its present-day board. Mymensingh (formed 2017) and Dinajpur therefore appear in years before they existed, and totals differ slightly from official announcements. GPA-5 counts for 2009–2010 are not available.
Institutions by pass-rate band
Number of schools, colleges and madrasahs whose candidates passed at each rate. Red: no candidate passed.

Solid lines: pass rate. Dashed lines: share of examinees with GPA-5.

Corrections to the source workbook
- HSC 2025 board pass rates were all entered as 58.83% (the national figure). Replaced with each board's rate, e.g. Cumilla 48.86%, Dhaka 64.62%, Madrasah 75.61%.
- SSC 2026 Rajshahi GPA-5 was 22,327, which is Rajshahi's 2025 count. The 2026 figure is 16,113; the nine general boards then sum to the reported 106,009.
